How it works

Ask our friendly concierge staff to book your Sayulita horseback riding experience. It's available year-round and lasts about 1 hour, 45 minutes.

Tours start daily at 3:00pm. You'll start from a meeting point on the beach. Full details will be provided, and we can help you arrange transportation if you need it.

A few important restrictions apply. First, legal liabilities prevent us from offering this activity to:

  • Pregnant women and people who experience vertigo
  • Guests with heart conditions
  • Guests with a history of neck or back trouble
  • Guests under the age of six

The horses can accommodate riders weighing up to 260 lbs (118 kg).

All guides are bilingual in English and Spanish. Drinks are provided throughout the activity, which includes tequila tasting and a beer pit stop on the beach.

What to bring

All horseback riding gear and safety equipment is provided. You'll need to bring:

  • Closed-toe shoes
  • Mosquito repellent (organic if possible)
  • Cash for tips and souvenirs (optional)

For safety reasons, cameras and mobile phones are not permitted while you're on horseback. If you want a picture, your guide will be happy to take one for you!

Eat breakfast or lunch at Avela's in-house restaurant or at a recommended spot in Sayulita at least two hours before your ride's scheduled start time.

Finally, please ride sober. If you turn up under the influence of alcohol or drugs, you may not be able to take part in the outing.
