Difficulty level: Easy to medium. Suitable for beginners. 

Considerations: Waters are usually calm, but conditions can vary and occasional sea swells may impact motion-sensitive guests. Open-water restrictions may also apply.

How it works

The tour departs from the beach in Punta de Mita. This is about 15 minutes by car from Avela Boutique Hotel. If you need transportation, our friendly concierge staff can arrange it.

Independent operators run the tour. They will provide:

• Specially trained activity and tour guides
• Life jackets
• Snorkeling equipment
• Bottled water and electrolytes

The water is clearest in the spring and summer. Sea swell increases in fall and winter, but these are also the best times to spot whales and dolphins.

• Sunblock or sunscreen
• Beach towels

It's a good idea to eat breakfast at least one hour before boarding the boat. (Breakfast is not included in this experience.)
