All about Playa La Lancha
Running about three-quarters of a mile (1.25 kilometers) from end to end, Playa La Lancha is a spacious, secluded white-sand beach known for fantastic surfing and whale-watching. The surrounding countryside is rich and lush with beauty but even so, the destination largely flies under the mainstream radar.
Playa La Lancha's great surf breaks make it very popular with surfers of all skill levels. You can often rely on good surfing conditions even when other nearby spots are closed out or flat.
Accessing the beach
If you're coming from Sayulita, you'll need to drive about 15-20 minutes to reach Playa La Lancha. You can arrange surfing lessons with Avela Boutique Hotel during your stay, and your surfing instructor will provide transportation if you book through us.
If you're coming on your own, you can access the beach by picking up the jungle trail across from Oxxo/WildMex Surf School in Nayarit. The easy jungle hike takes about 10 minutes.
When to visit
You can visit any time of year, but crowds tend to be lightest in Summer and Fall.
Attractions and amenities
The Punta Mita Recreational Trails link the beach to other nearby nature attractions and oceanfront recreation destinations. These include Playa Punta De Mita, another local beach popular with surfing aficionados.
While there aren't any vendors or restaurants on Playa La Lancha itself, you can eat at the nearby Makai Restaurant.
